As you hopefully know, we’ve recently gone through a major website redesign. And though we officially launched the new site (want to see more before and after photos?) two days prior to the biggest traffic day of the year, America’s Most Endangered Rivers report, I feel like we’re still launching.
I guess I now completely understand Google’s perpetual “Beta” phase, because is a new program, application or redesign ever complete?
We’re approaching six months and we’re still working out the kinks, but fortunately we’re moving forward and launching exciting new programs (eRiver Community) as well as a pretty cool (so I think) integration of our blog with campaign pages (example: Healthy Waters Campaign).
Going through our website redesign process (actually three website redesigns simultaneously) as well as redesigns with other organizations, I’ve learned a great deal.
Fortunately, many individuals were a part of American Rivers’ redesign. From the designers and developers to the strategists and staff to our visitors and supporters, I’d like to think a strong community of stakeholders helped shape our web redesign strategy.
With six months under our belt, we’re still learning and growing. And on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2007 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, we’ve been invited to join the discussion (along with Planned Parenthood Federation of America & World Bank’s YouThink! - 2006 Webby Award winner) at Forum One’s next Web Executive Seminar, Six Steps to a Successful Strategy.
Can’t make it, but interested in participating in an online discussion? I will be online next Monday at 2pm EST to discuss non-profit web strategy. Submit a question now!
